It’s that time of year again when the season of giving inspires so many of us to volunteer to help others, make a donation to a favorite charity or buy some toys/gifts for kids and families in need. If you are a fitness fanatic, like me, and are looking for another way to “give back” this holiday season, why not give to those in need with the gift of fitness? Yours.
There are two wonderful charity fundraisers coming up in 2013 that you can get involved with to help support needy families around the Seacoast and the good work and research of the American Lung Association in New England. These are two of my favorite fitness fundraisers. Both events are on my 2013 fitness calendar already!
So grab your bike and your yoga mat and let’s cycle and bust out some sun salutations and give back to others in need this holiday season! Giving back with the gift of fitness, and a few fundraised dollars from friends and family, is just the right thing to do. Lifting others up when they are down is the true spirit of the season.
First up in January is the 5th annual Seacoast Yoga Mala yoga class. In this one of a kind yoga class, you can experience 20+ diverse yoga teachers from around the Seacoast and allow the power of community to inspire you. Get ready for 108 sun salutations! Your gift will help keep Seacoast families warm and nourished through Seacoast Local‘s (H)EAT program, which aims to raise 10,000 meals and 10,000 gallons of fuel for Seacoast families in need this winter.
So, ask your family, friends and co-workers to support you and your fitness as you help local Seacoast families in need of heat and something to eat this winter. It is guaranteed to be an uplifting and inspiring experience for teachers and students alike. Unleash your downward reindeer and sign up today.
